5.2Veltnova wall displays
The bezel LED and the temperature and humidity sensors of the Veltnova Android wall displays, and how the app uses them.
The Veltnova Android wall displays have a colour LED in the bezel and a temperature and humidity sensor built in. The Veltnova app on such a display can switch the LED and show or use the sensor readings. These features work only on Veltnova brand displays that have the hardware. On any other device, such as a phone, a PC or a different tablet, the sections described here do not appear.
#Display LED
Open Settings and scroll to Display LED.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Bezel LED | Switches the LED on or off. |
| Colour | Red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, cyan or white. |
| Brightness | 1 to 15. |
A change shows on the LED at once and is saved. The saved colour is put back whenever the app starts and when the display restarts, so the LED keeps its colour after a power cut. A display you never set up is left as it is. If the display refuses a command, the section says so.
#Display sensors
Settings > Display sensors shows the temperature in degrees C and the humidity in percent, measured by the display, and refreshes every few seconds. A display that has only one of the two sensors lists only that one.
#Showing a reading on a page
The readings can be shown anywhere in your project:
- In the Configurator, place an Analog Value (or a State Action).
- Set Data Source to System Object and pick This Display - Temperature or This Display - Humidity as the System Value.
- Set Unit of Measure (for example
°Cor%) and Decimal Digits, then deploy.
The object shows the reading of the display the app runs on, so the same page shows each display's own value. On a device without the sensor the object is not shown at all, not even as an empty box. This lets you deploy one project to every device: only the displays that have the sensors show the objects bound to them.
#Sending the readings to KNX
A display can also act as a room sensor on the KNX bus: it reports its readings to the gateway, which writes them to group addresses you choose. This is set up in the Configurator under Server > Internal services > Display Sensors. See Display sensors. Each display needs its own gateway user.
#Tips and common problems
- There is no Display LED or Display sensors section. The device is not a Veltnova display with the hardware, or the app cannot open the device. The sections never appear on a phone, a PC or an iPad.
- The LED is dark after a restart. Set a colour in Settings > Display LED once, so the display has something to restore. A display you never set up keeps whatever the LED shows.
- An object bound to the display temperature is missing. It is shown only on displays that have the sensor. Open it on the Veltnova display, or check Settings > Display sensors there.
