3.23Grid Meter

A full-screen panel that shows the electricity meter at the supply point: import and export power, energy per period, voltage, current and frequency.

The Grid Meter is a full-screen panel for the electricity meter at your supply point. It shows whether the building is importing from or exporting to the grid, how much power is flowing, the energy used and generated today, yesterday, this month, last month and in total, and the electrical readings of the meter.

#When to use it

  • A KNX or Modbus electricity meter that you want to show on a dashboard page.
  • It replaces the Energy Meter object, which is no longer in the Add menu. A project that already has an Energy Meter keeps working.

The panel has no address fields of its own. It shows what the Grid Meter service publishes, so set that service up first.

#Adding it

Add it from Add > Values & Panels > Grid Meter or the right-click menu. Like the other full-screen panels, it is placed at the size of the page (1280 by 800 on a default page).

#Properties

Label and Position and size work as described on Common properties.

PropertyWhat it does
LabelThe title at the top of the panel. Default Grid Meter.
Custom FieldsOptional. Each one adds a row with a name and any System Value, shown under the standard readings. Use it for a value of the meter that the standard list does not cover.

#How it behaves in the apps

From the top of the panel down:

  • Title and status. The Grid line reads Importing from grid, Exporting to grid or Idle (active power within 5 W of zero), or -- before the first value. Active Power shows the power in kW.
  • Two gauges. Import (from grid) and Export (to grid), both in kW.
  • Energy. A table with Consumed and Generated in kWh for Today, Yesterday, This month, Last month and Total.
  • Readings. Voltage and current for L1 (and L2 and L3 when the meter sends them), Frequency and Power Factor.
  • Custom fields, when you added any.

A value that has not arrived yet shows --. The Configurator shows a static preview with -- placeholders; the real numbers come from the gateway.

#Tips and common problems

  • Everything shows --: enable the Grid Meter service, map the meter's values and deploy. See Grid meter.
  • The L2 and L3 readings are missing: the meter is set to single phase, or it does not send them.
  • Import and export are the wrong way round: see the tips on the Grid meter page.
