3.13Power Flow Panel
A home energy diagram with solar, grid, battery and load nodes, fed live from System Values.
The Power Flow Panel is a compact energy diagram. It shows four power figures (production, consuming, from grid, to grid), a Now / Day / Week / Month / Year bar and a diagram with Solar, Battery, Loads and Grid nodes. Map the four figures to live System Values and every dashboard shows them as they change.
#When to use it
Use it for an at-a-glance energy overview on a page. It needs at least one power source: a Solar Manager reading or a Modbus datapoint (an inverter or an energy meter). For an animated line that runs when a value is above a threshold use an Energy Flow Line; for one number use an Analog Value.
#What you need first
A source for at least one figure:
- the Solar Manager, for the inverter's AC power; or
- a Modbus datapoint from Modbus devices and datapoints, for example an energy meter's import and export power.
#Properties
The Label, Access Control, Width, Height, Position X, Position Y and Size % fields work as described in Common properties. Default size is 360 by 480.
#Live Values
| Property | What it does |
|---|---|
| Production | The System Value shown as Production, usually the inverter's AC power. Not mapped by default. |
| Consuming | The System Value shown as Consuming. If you leave it unmapped, the panel works it out as Production + From grid - To grid from whichever of those are mapped (never below zero). |
| From grid | The System Value for power bought from the grid, usually an energy meter's import power. |
| To grid | The System Value for power exported to the grid. |
| Mapped values are in | Watts (W) (default) or Kilowatts (kW). The panel always shows watts; kW values are multiplied by 1000. |
Each list offers the Solar Manager readings (when Solar Manager is set up) and every Modbus datapoint of your devices.
#Preview Values
| Property | What it does |
|---|---|
| View | Which period is highlighted in the Now / Day / Week / Month / Year bar. It only changes the highlight. |
| Production, Consuming, From grid, To grid | Typed values in W (defaults 477.9, 159.02, 182.31 and 82.64). They are shown only while the matching figure has no System Value mapped, and are what the Configurator canvas draws. |
#How it behaves in the apps
- Mapped figures update live in the Veltnova client (Windows, Android, iOS), locally and through the cloud relay.
- A mapped figure that has no reading yet shows
--. A figure with nothing mapped shows its typed value. - Values of 100 and above show one decimal, smaller ones two, each followed by "watt". The Solar-to-Loads and Grid-to-Loads lines are bright while production or grid power is above zero, and dim otherwise.
- The tabs (Home, Solar, Grid, Battery, Loads) and the period bar are drawn but not interactive. The Battery node is a drawing only: no battery figure is shown yet.
- The panel is placed at its Position X and Y with the Width and Height you set. It is not full screen.
- The Power Flow Manager under Server > Internal services does not feed this panel.
#Example
A home with an inverter and a grid meter:
- Set up the Solar Manager and a Modbus energy meter with import and export power datapoints.
- Add a Power Flow Panel. Production
Solar - AC power, From gridMeter - Import power, To gridMeter - Export power. Leave Consuming unmapped. Set Mapped values are in to match the datapoints, for exampleKilowatts (kW). - Deploy. The panel shows production, grid import and export live, and Consuming as production plus import minus export.
#Tips and common problems
- The numbers never change: nothing is mapped, so the panel shows the typed Preview Values. Map the figures under Live Values.
- Values are 1000 times too small or large: set Mapped values are in to the unit your datapoints use.
- Consuming looks wrong: it is calculated from the mapped figures only. Map every source you have (production, import and export), or map Consuming to its own meter.
- A figure shows
--: the mapped datapoint has not reported yet; check the Modbus device and the cable.
